THE ALBANY DRESS is a classic. Straight and long, it’s oh so very flattering.
The stitched down pleat in the centre back and the relaxed shoulder means it is ‘easy fit’ skimming and not hugging your body. In the front a lovely tie collar detail completes the look. Full of variation the dress pattern has the hidden pleasure of optional stitched down in seam pockets (and we all love a pocket!)

Make ‘your’ dress unique by contrasting the deep hem and cuff panels with different fabrics or directional designs. The Albany is a dress for all seasons. Use light/mid-weight wools, needle cord or flannel and team with boots woolly tights and an oversized cardigan in the colder months. In summer opt for flowing viscose, silk or super cool linens and you’ll never be out of it: in town, the park, out for the evening or even wear it as throw-on for the beach.

THE ALBANY TOP is a wardrobe staple. It is incredibly simple and versatile and a joy to wear… make it informal by mixing colourful prints and throw it on with jeans or use a plain silk or viscose - dress it up and wear it to work with a pencil skirt or work trousers. You will find yourself returning to this pattern time and again (and again).

Things to take note of before buying fabric
    1. The patterned fabric would ideally have to be without pile to be suitable for this method, but a fine pile like needlecord could be used.
    2. Non stretch woven fabrics have a little more ‘give’ in the cross grain due the weaving method, be sure to check this won’t unduly impact the finished garment.
    3. If using a patterned fabric it is wise to buy a bit more fabric than is stated in the instructions so you can lay the pattern out with the most pleasing placement of all the pieces.
